Know what sucks?
When someone you were friends with in an entirely platonic way ends up having to delete their online profiles and journals because of a new boyfriend/girlfriend.  A big WTF?!?!?!?!

I hate stuff like that, but I've seen it happen, and sometimes it was my only thread of contact with someone I really liked talking to.

And this is exactly what just happened.

Many people assume that ANY web presence is really just a dating site. Insecure new person makes platonic person delete journal. But you might be missing something. Maybe this friend is platonic with you but not with others. Thus, this deletion is symbolic in ways you're not considering.

I suppose.

You may have a point there....though I don't believe my particular ex-friend was really doing anything other than making friends.

i found a girl i was friends with in high school on myspace (first girl i ever kissed in fact). we caught up a bit and then a few weeks later without warning her profile was gone. along with my only way to get in touch with her. unless i want to join facebook & i'd rather not.
but what David said is true too (of course:P).

Yeah, it's always good to have multiple methods of contact I suppose...a MySpace or MyYearBook or FaceBook or whatever profile isn't that reliable it seems.

WAY big wtf. A fellow I know "had to" delete a bunch of his platonic female friends off myspace because his SO was pitching a hissyfit. I mean, junior high was a long time ago! Grow up already!

Couldn't have said it better myself...it is a kind of teenage mentality.

I hear ya there...either that or they just stop talking altogether and it feels like they deleated their site anyway...or died.
